6th Kyu White Belt
Competence in breakfalls and rolls
First form throws as follows:
Shiho Nage - Four Directional Throw
Kote Gaeshi - Small Wrist Turn
Irimi Nage - Enter Body Throw
Kaiten Nage - Spiral Throw
Tenchi Nage - Heaven and Earth Throw
Using the above to defend from Downwards blow, Side blow, Straight punch, Front and Rear strangulation's.
Note: In all gradings Adults must complete the above left and right side, juniors only need to use 1 side.
5th Kyu Yellow Belt
As in 6th kyu and improvements on breakfalls and rolls.
Plus 4 immobilisation techniques in first form as follows:
Ikkyo - First Principle.
Nikkyo - Second Principle.
Sankyo - Third Principle.
Yonkyo - Fourth Principle.
Using the above techniques and those from the 6th Kyu, to defend from Hands held from the Front and the Rear, Hair Pulls from the Front and the Rear, Bear Hug from the Front and the Rear (with and without the arms pinned), Pull on the shoulder or Sleeve from the Rear, One Sleeve or Hand held with a Blow to the Face.
Plus Random attacks; attacks will be from the syllabus that has been covered.
4th Kyu Orange Belt
All previous syllabus.
Plus first form Positive (Irimi) and Negative (Tenkan)
Plus Defences from Kicks (front, back, side and roundhouse (low, midrange and high range))
Plus Defences from Side Head locks and Forearm Nelson holds.
Plus Defences from Arm Up the Back, Three Variations.
Plus Defences from Attacks whilst being Pinned Against The Wall.
Plus Defences from Strangulation's and various holds whilst being pinned on the floor.
Plus Random Attacks.
3rd Kyu Green Belt
All previous syllabus
Second Form (Irimi and Tenkan)
Plus Defences from Weapon Attacks (Various Weapons and Various Attacks)
Plus Defences from Two-Man Attacks: holding both wrists, both arms, one holding rear the other delivering a blow to the head.
Plus Jo Defences to the following attacks Downwards blow, Side Blow, (the latter will be with various weapons including the Jo), and Various Knife Attacks.
Plus to have a reasonable knowledge of Atemi-Waza's and Japanese Terminology.
2nd Kyu Blue Belt

Plus 10 Combination Techniques
Plus 10 Counter Techniques
Plus minimum 10 defences against Cosh or Similar Weapon
Plus minimum 10 defences against Various Knife attacks
Plus minimum 4 defences against Pistol attacks
Plus minimum 4 defences against Flexible Weapon (e.g.: Chain)
Plus defences against 3 men attacks.
Plus Bokken defences. Minimum 10 defences against downwards blow, side blow, reverse hand, straight thrusts (also other weapons)
Plus to Develop 32 move Kata using the Jo staff.
1st Kyu Brown Belt

Plus minimum 75 Atemi Waza's. Demonstrated slowly then with speed.
Plus minimum 15 immobilisation technique's
Plus minimum 15 Counter techniques
Plus minimum 15 Combination techniques
Plus minimum 15 Defences against Knife Attacks
Plus minimum 15 Defences against Various other Weapons
Plus minimum 8 defences against pistol attacks
Plus Variations on the throwing techniques from 1st form, five basic and five practical.
Plus Variations on Immobilisation techniques from 1st form, five basic and five practical.
Plus a Good Knowledge of Japanese Terminology.
